Jesus Loves You & Me
What Jesus Did For You & Me – God’s Love Provided a Way of Escape
JESUS LOVES YOU & ME – is about what Jesus Christ did for You & Me by Providing a Way of Escape for us from Eternal Hell. God showed His infinite Love for us by sending Jesus to be Punished, & then to Die a Horrific Death for our Sins. (Eph 2:2-9) This is such Good News. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Romans 5:6-12 (NASB) “For while we were still HELPLESS, at the right time CHRIST DIED for the UNGODLY. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8) But God DEMONSTRATES His own LOVE toward US, in that while we were yet SINNERS, CHRIST DIED for us. Much more then, having now been JUSTIFIED by His HIS BLOOD, we shall be SAVED from the WRATH of GOD through Him. For if while we were ENEMIES we were RECONCILED to GOD through the DEATH of HIS SON, much more, having been RECONCILED, we shall be SAVED by HIS LIFE. 11) And not only this, but we also EXULT in GOD through our LORD JESUS CHRIST, through whom we have now received the RECONCILIATION. Therefore, just as through ONE MAN SIN entered into the WORLD, and DEATH through SIN, and so DEATH spread to ALL MAN, because ALL SINNED..”
- 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NASB) “Therefore, we are AMBASSADORS for CHRIST, as though GOD were making an APPEAL through Us; we BEG YOU on BEHALF OF CHRIST, be RECONCILED TO GOD. HE made HIM who knew NO SIN to be SIN on our BEHALF, so that WE might become the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD in HIM.”

1 – Jesus Loves You And Me – Commentary
The love that God (the Creator of all things) has for mankind seems beyond human perception. God created man and placed him in a perfect environment. But man rebelled against God and sinned. He would not Obey God. He would not let God reign over him. Thus sin has reigned from the time that Adam sinned. All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. The question then arises. In
- Matthew 23:33 Jesus says, “How will you escape the Judgment of Hell?”
- Romans 6:23 “For the Wages of Sin is Death.”
2 – God’s Love Provided a Way of Escape
There is a way of escaping hell or eternal death. As it is written, John 3:16 “For God loved the World so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have Eternal Life.”
John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the WRATH of God abides on him.” The word “believe,” as used here, means a total uncompromising commitment of love and obedience.
Jesus Christ died a horrible death so that you can have forgiveness of all your sins, no matter how bad they are. A person never needs to go to hell, if they receive, by faith, the forgiveness and love that God offers through Jesus Christ, His Son. This is an offer God gives you.
In order for our sin debt to be paid, Jesus Christ (God’s only begotten Son) had to come to this earth in human form. He was made under the Law. He became flesh and dwelt among us. He was not under the curse of sin from Adam as his Father was God in heaven. He was born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life. He taught for about 3 years. He raised the dead, healed the sick, and taught things that had been hidden from the beginning. He did only good. Yet He was ridiculed and tempted in all ways as we are. Then when His time was come He was arrested, beaten, condemned, and hung on the cross. His appearance was so disfigured that the Scriptures describe it as worse than any man. His beard was ripped off his face. He had a crown of thorns embedded on his head. One can only imagine how His face must have swelled and been a bloody mess. It is a miracle that He could even speak. The pain must have been excruciating.
Who could depict such a thing! God, in His love, came to this earth in human form to die at the hands of the very people He created, so that those who would trust in Him and Him alone might have eternal life and unspeakable joy for eternity.
Man has a rebellious nature, especially against the things of God. No person has to teach a child to lie. Rather a child has to be taught to do right. Man is very self-centered. He is selfish. Each person usually looks at himself as the center of the universe. People traditionally do what is right in their own eyes, not in the eyes of a Holy God.
Thus, man needed a Savior. Man needed someone to pay his sin debt. That Savior was God Himself. He paid that sin debt. However those that reject His love and sacrifice have no forgiveness of their sins. They are doomed to perish for eternity for rejecting the love of God. They will die in their sin.
He calls us out of sin and darkness so we can understand the Scriptures. He saves us.
But that is not all. Once we receive Jesus Christ as our only hope of salvation, we need to hear and (if we can read) we need to study God’s Word. We need to learn about God and what He expects of us. God gives us His Spirit. But, in all cases, when we believe God is telling us to do this or that or go here or there, we need to search the Scriptures to see if it is correct.
Once we begin to follow Jesus by giving Him our lives, we sometimes begin to go astray. He then, in His love, corrects us with chastisements.
- Revelation 3:19 “As many as I love, I Rebuke and Chasten: be Zealous therefore, and Repent.”
In other words, we may get spanked in some way. This can come in many ways, such as finances, sickness, problems, or something unexpected. We need to continually examine ourselves to see if we are doing the will of God according to His Word.
As we walk with God and do those things which are pleasing in His sight we can expect many problems to occur. We can expect unexpected sufferings. We can expect to be persecuted by loved ones, employers, and strangers. We can expect to be unjustly accused of unbelievable things. We can expect to be tempted in ways we might never think of. Through all of this our faith will be tested to see if it is genuine. God has already proven His love for us. Now our love for God will be tested. The Scriptures tell us that, by the fear of God, men depart from evil. Will we continue to follow God no matter what, or will we go back to following Satan? God, in His love, will be with us no matter what we go through.
God has ordained from even before the foundation of the earth some way in which to serve Him. He has some form of work for all of His people to do. But before our service, should come study, study, and more study. We need to dwell in God’s Word and learn, so that we do not sin against Him. We need to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Then, finally, when the end has come for each of us, we will forever be with Jesus. Not only will we escape eternal death (the lake of fire), but we have eternal life. And even more than this —note the words, it is written:
- 1 Corinthians 2:9 “Eye has not seen, nor Ear heard, neither have entered into the Heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.”
Who can understand the love of God? Who can understand that God sent Jesus to pay the sin debt of a sinful, stubborn and rebellious people. It is written:
- John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The very essence of God is love.
God demonstrates His overwhelming love for us in that Jesus died for us—He took on Himself our deserved punishment—so that we might have life and have it abundantly. There is also much in the Bible about us loving God, loving our brothers in Christ, and even loving our enemies.

- John 15:13-14 There is no greater LOVE than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.
- John 3:16 “For God LOVED the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
- Revelation 1:5 …and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.
- Revelation 3:9 Look, I will force those who belong to Satan’s synagogue—those liars who say they are Jews but are not—to come and bow down at your feet. They will acknowledge that you are the ones I LOVE.
- Romans 5:5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God LOVES us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his LOVE.
4 – The Love of God
- 1 John 4:19 We love each other because he LOVED us first.

- Romans 8:35-39 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s LOVE? Does it mean he no longer LOVES us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the LOVE OF GOD is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
